Funny Fishing Christmas Card for Dad, Angler Humour, One That Got Away

Funny Fishing Christmas Card for Dad – One That Got Away

Make Christmas more personal for a fishing-mad Dad with this funny fishing Christmas card, designed especially for fathers who would rather be beside the water with a rod in hand. Combining classic angling humour with a traditional festive feel, it is a great way to raise a smile before Dad has even opened his presents.

The front features the message “Dad’s Favourite Christmas Tale: The One That Got Away”, putting a festive twist on one of fishing’s most familiar jokes. Every angler has a story about the enormous fish that somehow escaped, making this a particularly fitting Christmas card for a Dad who enjoys telling tales about his latest fishing adventures.

A rustic arrangement of weathered wooden signs forms the centre of the artwork, surrounded by carefully chosen fishing details. A fishing rod and reel runs alongside the design, accompanied by a red and white float, fish illustration and traditional green tackle box. These recognisable angling elements make it immediately clear that this is a Christmas card created with keen fishermen in mind.

Festive touches bring the fishing theme into Christmas without overwhelming the design. A bright red Santa hat sits across the wooden sign, while snow-covered holly, red berries, evergreen foliage and scattered snowflakes add seasonal character. Warm cream, natural wood, deep green and traditional red tones create a cosy Christmas look with a slightly rustic outdoor feel.

This fishing Christmas card for Dad is particularly well suited to fathers who enjoy coarse fishing, freshwater fishing, days at the lake or river, or simply escaping outdoors whenever they get the chance. Whether fishing is his serious hobby or his favourite way to relax at the weekend, the familiar “one that got away” humour gives the card a personal touch that a general Dad Christmas card cannot offer.

It also makes a thoughtful choice from a son or daughter looking for something that reflects their Dad’s interests. Suitable recipients include Dad, Father, Stepdad and Father-in-law, particularly anyone known as the keen fisherman or angler in the family. It is equally appropriate for a Dad who has been fishing for decades or someone who has recently discovered the hobby.

Quality matters when you are choosing a card for someone special. This design is professionally printed on premium 300gsm matte white cardstock, producing a sharp and vibrant finish while giving the card a substantial, quality feel. The square format measures approximately 14.8 cm x 14.8 cm, providing plenty of presence when displayed alongside other Christmas cards.

The card is blank inside, giving you complete freedom to write exactly what you want. Add a heartfelt Christmas greeting, continue the fishing joke, mention a memorable day spent together or simply wish Dad a relaxing festive season. With no pre-printed verse restricting the available space, you can make your message as personal, sentimental or humorous as you like.

A quality brown kraft envelope is included, complementing the card’s rustic fishing theme while making it ready to address and send. The combination of professional printing, sturdy cardstock and detailed artwork creates a finished card that feels considered rather than generic.

If you are searching for a funny Christmas card for Dad, an angler Christmas card, fisherman Christmas card or a festive greeting for someone who loves fishing, this design brings those ideas together naturally. It celebrates Dad’s favourite hobby while keeping the humour light-hearted and unmistakably festive.

Give your fishing-mad Dad something made with his interests in mind this Christmas. With its classic “One That Got Away” joke, distinctive angling artwork and traditional festive details, this funny fishing Christmas card is a memorable way to send your Christmas wishes and give Dad an extra reason to smile.
