Funny Grammar Police Birthday Card for Teachers, Writers and Grammar Lovers
Give the grammar enthusiast in your life a birthday card that speaks their language with this funny Grammar Police birthday card. Packed with clever spelling, punctuation and grammar jokes, it is a brilliant choice for anyone who notices a misplaced apostrophe from across the room or simply cannot resist correcting somebody’s use of “your” and “you’re”.
The colourful design takes inspiration from retro public information and police posters, with a stern Grammar Police officer pointing directly at the recipient. He holds a bright red stop sign declaring “Bad Grammar Stops Here”, immediately setting up the joke and making the card an eye-catching choice for a birthday.
Alongside the officer is a clipboard filled with humorous Grammar Police laws. These cover some of the mistakes that drive language lovers mad, including using the correct “your”, understanding the difference between “to, too and two”, avoiding questionable spelling, using commas correctly and remembering that apostrophes indicate possession rather than simply making words plural.
Across the top of the design, bold lettering announces “Happy Birthday From the Grammar Police”, followed by the warning “There’s No Excuse for Poor Grammar!” It is a playful combination of birthday humour and familiar language frustrations that should instantly resonate with anyone who prides themselves on writing correctly.
At the bottom, the slogan “Be Nice. Write Right.” continues the Grammar Police theme, while “Hope your birthday is perfect in every way!” adds a more traditional birthday wish. A colourful birthday cake and wrapped present complete the design, ensuring the card still feels suitably celebratory despite all that serious grammar enforcement.
This funny grammar birthday card is particularly well suited to teachers and English teachers. If you know a teacher who spends their working day correcting spelling, punctuation and sentence structure, the jokes should feel very familiar. It is also a fun birthday card for tutors, lecturers and other education professionals with a love of the English language.
Writers, authors, editors and proofreaders are equally likely to appreciate the humour. From someone who writes professionally to the friend who proofreads everybody else’s messages, this Grammar Police card offers a more personal alternative to an ordinary generic birthday greeting.
Other suitable recipients include librarians, copywriters, journalists, language enthusiasts, grammar lovers, book lovers and word nerds. It can also work brilliantly for a colleague, boss, friend, mum, dad, brother, sister, husband, wife or relative who has earned a reputation for correcting other people’s spelling and punctuation. Whether their corrections are genuinely helpful or delivered with a slightly smug smile, the joke should hit the mark.
The card measures 14.8 cm x 14.8 cm, giving it a generous square format that allows the detailed retro artwork and humorous text to stand out clearly. It is professionally printed on premium 300gsm matte white cardstock for a substantial feel and a sharp, vibrant finish.
A quality brown kraft envelope is included, so the card is ready to give or post. The inside is left completely blank, providing plenty of room to personalise your greeting. You can write a heartfelt birthday message, continue the grammar joke or deliberately include a grammatical error and wait to see how quickly they spot it.
If you are searching for a funny birthday card for an English teacher, grammar lover, writer, editor, proofreader or anyone obsessed with correct punctuation, this distinctive Grammar Police design offers humour that feels tailored to them. It combines a memorable joke, colourful vintage-inspired styling and quality materials to create a birthday card they will enjoy reading, displaying and, inevitably, checking for grammatical errors.
